Juan Barahona is the founder of SMJ Development where he specializes in complex affordable housing projects across NYC. Juan started his career at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development in the Division of New Construction as a project manager working on various projects throughout East Harlem and lower Manhattan. Juan later joined the team at BFC Partners where he spent over a decade managing a large portfolio of affordable housing deals.

Juan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Master of Public Administration Degree from Cornell University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Fifth Avenue Committee and Settlement Housing Fund.
